School-Based Care
What Is a School-Based Health Center?
Alcona Health Center proudly operates Child Adolescent Health Centers (CAHCs) and School Wellness Programs (SWPs) with funding from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). These programs deliver comprehensive primary care and behavioral health services directly within school settings in Oscoda, Alpena, Alcona, and Petoskey.
By placing care on campus, we eliminate barriers such as transportation and scheduling conflicts. As a result, students can access high-quality, confidential care without disrupting their academic day. Furthermore, our school-based centers actively promote physical, emotional, and behavioral well-being—ultimately contributing to improved educational outcomes and healthier communities.
