About this Location

The school based behavioral health program is operated by Alcona Health Center in partnership with Alpena Public Schools. With parental/guardian permission, our licensed behavioral health professionals can provide therapy conveniently located within your child’s school. This allows for ease of access, fewer disruptions of regular routines and less loss of class time. Commercial insurance and Medicaid plans are accepted and we offer an income based sliding fee program. New patients are welcome.


Julie A. Hasse, LLMSW

Julie Hasse, LLMSW is a Behavioral Health Therapist. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2017 and has several years of experience in the community mental health system. Ms. Hasse is a Gentle Teaching Trainer and enjoys working with children.

Ellen Zempel, LMSW

Ellen Zempel, LMSW graduated from Michigan State University with a Master of Clinical Social Work. Areas of professional interests and strengths include Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, child development and, children and family issues.
