Special appointment times for higher risk patients –
As part of our COVID-19 response plan, we have set aside special appointment times for the elderly or those with certain medical conditions that may make them higher risk for getting complications if they get COVID-19 or another virus. Please let the receptionist or scheduler know if you have: Asthma, Chronic Kidney Disease with Dialysis, Diabetes, a serious heart condition, a blood disorder or if you are immunocompromised or over 65 years old.
Peggy Briggs, LPC
Peggy Briggs, LPC is a Behavioral Health Therapist. She earned her Master of Arts, Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University. Of interest, Peggy Briggs, LPC holds EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Associated) Certification to facilitate Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She is a member of the International Association of Trauma Professionals.
Ashley Kaatz, DOJoining the AHC team in August 2021!
Dr. Ashley Kaatz obtained her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has a special interest in Integrative Medicine.

Karen Sawmiller, PA-C
Karen Sawmiller, PA-C is a Physician Assistant practicing family medicine at our Harrisville location. She received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from Central Michigan University in 2003. Current professional memberships include the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants.
Melanie Thomas, FNP
Melanie Thomas is a Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of Michigan (Flint) and went on to earn her Master's Degree from Chamberlain College of Nursing. Melanie Thomas, FNP enjoys all aspects of family care including pediatrics. She is welcoming new patients at our Harrisville location.
